Mission and Service
In The United Church of Canada we have a vision of how we participate in God’s mission in the world. This United Vision involves ministry in our own United Churches and in work with partners across the country and around the globe. Our United Vision and our United work is funded by the Mission and Service Fund.

thanks for the survey. Our church has funding criteria which is used to determine the suitability of providing financial support in ways that are truly life giving for both the giver & receiver. Is is possible to post the full list of funding criteria here on the mast website? This wld be helpful for those of us engaged in determining similar criteria in our congregations and presbyteries.
Paula,
Unfortunately it is not possible to publish a full list of criteria. In terms of Canadian missions, each Conference is given a block grant each year. So for instance in 2009, Toronto Conference was given a grant of $438,000. Toronto Conference received applications for Mission Support money. The Conference Mission Support committee then uses the criteria that has been developed by Toronto Conference to determine how that $438,000 was dispersed amongst the applicants. Other conferences were also given a block grant (some more or less than Toronto, based on a formula which is set by the Mission Support Consultation). They use their own unique discernment processes to determine the best use for these funds.
You may wish to contact your Conference Office to see what spending priorities their Mission Support Committee might follow as a guide.
